In a system that seems to thrive on us being unhealthy, disconnected and trapped in the thinking mind. The key to freedom, health and connection lies within.
Meet the Coach
Hi I’m Chelsie, founder of Body Breath & Mind and sub-brands The FitBreath and Her Longevity Lifestyle.
I’m a qualified personal trainer, fitness instructor, Oxygen Advantage Functional Breathing Instructor, Yogalap Breath-work Instructor, Cold Water Practitioner and Cacao Ceremony Facilitator. I gained coaching and mentoring skills during many years of a business career in management & leadership roles.
I started exercising 30+ years ago, when as a new young mum, I realised that my previous strategy of starving myself slim was not going to serve the health of me or my child.
At that time whilst my main goal was aesthetics, the improvements that physical exercise along with dietary changes, made to my mental health were obvious.
Yet as I continued to navigate the ups and downs through life, it became clear that it there was much more to discover of the wellness jigsaw.
I became a wellness and research geek, looking for ways to keep strong and resilient.
I became a wellness and research geek, looking for ways to keep strong and resilient.
I discovered first-hand the benefits of lifting weights during perimenopause, the part that diet and gut health play in prolonging remission in autoimmune conditions, and the devastating impact of chronic stress and trauma on bodies and minds.
Yet throughout this, despite regular mindfulness and meditation, I struggled to quiet my busy mind. It wasn’t until I discovered cold water and breathwork during COVID that I was able to harness the power of my breath to finally achieve brief moments of presence and stillness. For me, the breath became one of the major parts of the jigsaw — the bridge between body and mind and key to optimising health and fitness.
More than that, those moments of stillness allowed me to explore deeper within myself. They opened me up to something beyond the physical, and instilled my belief that we are so much more than we’ve been led to believe. Something that traditional cultures have always known.
Then just as I was getting ready to launch a new career helping others with breathing lifestyle and fitness — my body had other ideas.
After a long period of stress, the emotional toll of late-stage menopause, and juggling too much for too long, I experienced a full ulcerative colitis flare-up — completely out of the blue.
I had been ‘doing’ everything right.. Training. Ice baths. Breathwork. Meditation. Healthy food. But I was “coping” by doubling down on all the wellbeing practices I knew and ignoring all the signals telling me I needed to slow down. As somebody who prided themselves on pushing through and being strong, I took more and more on physically and emotionally
Until my body said no.
What I can only assume was burnout, combined with the return of debilitating ulcerative colitis symptoms, a condition I thought I’d ‘cured’ myself of, forced me to stop. Not just slow down — really stop. To listen to my body and mind, and to recognise that even wellbeing can become another form of pressure when it turns into a checklist.
That’s when I realised I’d been trying to ignore and minimise my stress by doing more.
Breathing helped me through, Even when symptoms are bad and feel out of control, I can use my breath to manage pain, calm my system, and find rest to help my body heal.
Now in my 5th decade of life, I still have a long way to go, especially in overcoming stress, anxiety and an overthinking mind and also in healing and supporting my gut without pharmaceutical intervention. Yet I want to share some of the tools that have so far helped — in the hope that they may support others to find freedom from fear stress, anxiety and overthinking, to thrive amidst life’s challenges.

Even those who can't say pranayama, haven't heard of HIIT, think consciousness is "woo woo" or would never contemplate a Pilates or meditation class!
I use a mix of techniques blending ancient wisdom with modern science and using down-to-earth language (sometimes with a bit of swearing thrown in) and collaborate with a variety of people-led businesses, to reach as many different people as possible.
